Fonts - Pete - 11-17-2022 I'm finding it a bit difficult to get nice spacing with arial or calibri fonts. Lucida Console works perfectly, but I was hoping to discover a few other ttf windows fonts that wouldn't spread out so much over the screen and would not give unexpected results with extended ASCII characters. I figure other members might have some favorites. Any suggestions? Pete RE: Pete - bplus - 11-17-2022 MasterGy had a very interesting suggestion for hardware coding letters and NAHT using print or _PrintString. I will see if i can dig up a link... Update: Yes, it was a reply to another call for Help: https://qb64phoenix.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1103&pid=9675#pid9675 I used similar method but NAHT hardware to space letters by printing them in character cells with GUI stuff, so all my columns were in a row ;-)) ie my list boxes could show neat coulmns of numbers. These suggestions do not require MONO(senior moment)... sorry forgot the word but it's the option that stretches print to ridiculous and unpractical widths. Update: NAHT MONOtone, MONOSPACE RE: Pete - Dav - 11-17-2022 I still use the lucon.ttf font, but the Consolas font is very much like Lucinda Console and a little less width grabby. You may like that one. Not sure how it will handle the High ASCII in the QB64 IDE. - Dav RE: Fonts - Pete - 11-17-2022 @Dav + 1 I like it, and it works with the non-letter/numerical characters I'm using just fine. @bplus Yes, I saw that post by GY. I'm going to keep this app SCREEN 0, but if I did want to use _DISPLAY, I'd try it out as a hardware overlay. Well, so far I think the only other option that plays nice with monospace is Courier New, but hey, Dav did find Consolas, which does work. Any others? Pete RE: Fonts - SMcNeill - 11-17-2022 120 Free Monospaced Fonts · 1001 Fonts -- these are the fonts you want. They're already monospaced naturally, so qb64pe doesn't have to go in manually had space to the sides of the letters to make them the all fit the same space as the widest letter (usually M or W). My recommendation for a nice unicode, monospace font: The JuliaMono Typeface -- Everyone should probably take a look at it sometime. https://github.com/cormullion/juliamono -- github to just grab the Julia fonts. RE: Fonts - Pete - 11-18-2022 Thanks. I downloaded one that looks pretty good last night. Hope to try it out later today. Doing Christmas stuff already. I got the tree up last night, and I didn't even need to take any pills... Aspirin, Steve! Pete |
