Steve's Calendar Creator - SMcNeill - 04-23-2022 Here's my little program which I wrote so I can always print me out a new calendar each time a new year comes around. ![]() As you can see, it loads an image of the month's birthstone and zodiac symbols in the top left corner. Holidays are marked. There's the current time on the bottom left, as well as a scrolling feed of current events which roll across the bottom of the page. Current day is highlighted, and with just a click of the button, you can print the page out (without the extra info like the newsfeed), and have yourself a hard copy to pin to your wall if you like. Holidays and Events and all are in simple to edit TXT files, so you can easily add your own personal dates into the calendar if you choose (like the wife's birthday, or your anniversary date). This has to be one of my little programs that I'm the proudest of, written in QB64.
RE: Steve's Calendar Creator - SierraKen - 01-05-2026 This is amazing Steve! I've never seen a real news ticker run on a BASIC program before. Awesome job on the graphics. Much nicer than my plain calendar maker I made. Have you thought about being able to switch forward and back on the months? RE: Steve's Calendar Creator - SMcNeill - 01-05-2026 Ctrl + arrow keys. Look in the source for the various key commands. ![]() Ctrl + left/right to move months. left/right to move the day selector. escape to quit space to pause the news ticker 0 to 9 to change your notes/daily events. (Look at the right side of the screen for the flashing cursor at the number you pressed.) C to change background R is the replace background with a black screen (which is nice sometimes for readability if your background image has difficult to see colors) If everything is working as it should and with proper disk access and such, it should get your latitude and longitude, your sunrise and sunset, moon phase, and other such pieces of information from the web. It gathers news for a quick news ticker, and keeps current time in the left corner. Top right has your birthstone and the month's zodiac information. You can swap in your own backgrounds by replacing the background folder. RE: Steve's Calendar Creator - SMcNeill - 01-05-2026 |
