Seek

Wonder if SEEK function and statement might be a Word of the Day candidate?

Seek does sound like a cool command name but it is only used for jumping around Opened Files.

@Dimster you being a sort of seeker, I can see why this command name might appeal. Smile

Hey Steve, has Word of the Day gone the way of the QB64 Bible? You do provide great historical perspective and interesting details on our Command words.

It is cool. I'm trying to use it right now to avoid multiple OPEN's of the same file and I have multiple files opened at the same time. Where I'm hitting a snag is recognizing if the file being sought needs a record number or byte. You would think it obvious, a record number only if the file was opened in a random access mode, but if you have a mix of sequential and random files opened I appear to have confused my computer ... it's not me who is confused you understand, I know exactly what I asked the computer to do but we speak different languages. I have a good idea on a fix for my problem but thought it might be one of those commands not used very much so perhaps a candidate for the Pete's Word of the Day.

"Pete's Word of the Day"

So that's what happened to Pete, he ran out of words for screen 0.
