Mountain men are born tough!  No need for a month in rehab, when I can sleep just as good all day long on my recliner as I can theirs.

Still no great get up and go, coming from  me, so don't expect me around a lot for the next month or more. Just imagine me flopped in a recliner and complaining over not being able to sleep, whenever I'm awake, and you have my schedule for the next month.

The first step on the road to recovery! It will be fine!

The constant tiredness will get better with each passing day. The right opportunity to read a book that is not about Basic. If you are interested in history, especially American history, I can recommend a book: Battle Cry of Freedom - The Civil War Era, James M McPherson, 1988. A very good book about America and its history.

Of course I have the German edition, for the original my English is not good enough. The German edition, if anyone is interested: Für die Freiheit sterben

All the best!

Another good one about that war is "Co. Aytch" by Samuel R. Watkins,
available for free here

https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/13202

It's a firsthand account by a soldier who found himself fighting for the wrong side, and it's fascinating (and quite horrific at points)!

Welcome back Steve. Take good rest.

I had read about it before, thanks for the reminder. I just ordered the book - it's also available in German.

Co. Aytch: Erinnerungen eines Konföderierten an den Bürgerkrieg

Thanks for the tip!

History has always interested me. Through "Co.Aytch" I came across other interesting books about the American Civil War, and I ordered two of them - in German (of course there are also the originals):
Einer von Hoods Texanern: Ein Veteran der 5th Texas Infantry

Maismehl & Wasser: Das Alltagsleben des konföderierten Soldaten

Very interesting, I will look for English versions.
Here is one I just came across, "Hardtack and Coffee".
I wonder how any of this can find its way into a QB64 program?
Maybe a simulatiom, or a text adventure in that setting...

Thanks! For me it's the other way around, the English version is too difficult for me.

What about our super moderator? Is he still there, or is he already "East of Eden"? Maybe he needs a little encouragement:  Wink
