So over last couple of days seems I was mistaken about there being 2 Calendars - a Public and a Private - there is just one default Public Calendar with an option to enter a Private Event.
- you can read only the Public Calendar if you are not Logged In
- you can enter a Public a/o Private Event if you are Logged In
- you can not alter or edit anything that is Posted as Public by others (although not sure that there may be an administrator who could)
- you can edit your own Private stuff
- Future Private Events that you enter will only show up on that future date
- Features of the Calendar are exactly like Posting, so you have access to color, font control, can include images etc
- I could not find a Notification feature (where, on the date or perhaps day before, there is a notice sent to you about a pending Private Event)

One thing I'm screwing up is the Edit feature. I expected the edited version to be there once I moved away from the edited post and then went back to it. The edit disappeared. Upon re-looking on the Edit screen, I do see a GO button. Maybe I should have used that to exit the screen. 

At the moment I'm thinking this Private Event stuff isn't really going to be helpful to me. I think, if I am logged on, that the calendar on my screen should display all the future Private Events which I had entered, not just the Event listed for that particular day of viewing. I haven't tried that RECURRING EVENT feature but I am expecting it to show all future dates.

Anyway, can't really say anything I have described here is 100% accurate as it's just been 2 days of messing around with it.
