Forum Test #2 - SMcNeill - 01-24-2026

Okies guys.  Same deal.  Try the Twilight Theme once more for testing.  I've made a minor change or two to how it was, and this seems more like how I'd envision it working better.   Look for that Show More in the post and see where it's hiding at for us.  It's no longer down below the area like it was.  See if you can finds it.  Smile

Yeah testing twilight here: https://qb64phoenix.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4406

In Pete's reply #4 showing 2 quotes from you Steve the 2nd Show More / Show less doesn't do anything.

That's as intended.  I haven't sorted out how to hide the [Show More/Less] yet on those inner posts, but they're never supposed to be anything more than just blurbs.  You're responding to on person, not to the person who that person is responding to, and who that person might have been responding to.  Tongue

If you want to backtrack the conversation, use those green arrows.  They take you back to the original post, and then you can read it fully.   Only the outermost [Show More/Less] is actually active.

I'm still new to this CSS stuff and Javascript and haven't yet sorted out how the heck to do some inner recursive exclusion to the formatting.  You guys may have to live with *false* inner links for now.   Still, I like the way this works mighty dang well!

Yeah in this reply with 3 quotes: https://qb64phoenix.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4400&pid=39224#pid39224
The order seems a little bit off from what you expect to see.
There was first _unseen reply
then henry quoting him then me quoting henry

but the order is reversed in Twilight mode.

Update: i don't know it's past my bedtime, I see it's in reverse order when I return back to Dawn as well. But the 2nd Show More / Show Less if I recall didn't seem to change anything.

Update #2 Oh you had replied! You know, if I want to see more, I could always just scroll up and look at how the conversation played out.

RE: Forum Test #2 - SMcNeill - 01-24-2026

I'm not seeing that.  The order remains the same for me in both cases.  We do nothing with this to reorder things, it just processes them on a first found first shortened basis.   Can you share a screenshot of the reversing you're looking at?

RE: Forum Test #2 - bplus - 01-24-2026

I've updated my last post twice I am tired and easily confused. I do appreciate the attempt to cut down on scrolling. You have that already!

Note you don't even have to scroll up.  Just follow those green arrows next to a person's name.  Click them.  They're links up to the cited post in its entirety.  (That's why I figure they're not needed to be repeated again.  You should just be able to follow the => back up the ladder and trace the conversation.)

RE: Forum Test #2 - SMcNeill - 01-24-2026

And I certainly appreciate the testing and resting on these things.  I'm no expert on .css and javascript, so there's always a chance I did something wrong.  Folks who test this repeatedly and report back on it are good for my state of mind.  Thanks for working with me and sharing what you're seeing with it.  Wink

I think Mark broke something with his post #7 in the previous thread, or maybe refreshing that page just didn't clear up his post #7 as expected.

In other news, I'm releasing my new car side mirror tomorrow...
