RIP Mark Sibly.  There's too few of us left and the pool gets smaller every year.  Sad

Well I'm still here, but in all fairness, I had nothing to do with BASIC, but I did co-invent the abacus. Beads me who the other guy was.

I do feel bad the reason for his passing was attributed to numerous health problems. It's a shame we couldn't code a SWAP Silby, Gates for this one in our Matrix.

In contrast, Dick Van Dyke just celebrated his 99th birthday by evacuating his fire-side home in Malibu this week. Hopefully he will be around for his 101st so he can vote for a Republican governor.

Now you guys know why I don't get invited to speak at funerals much.

Pete

Oh no, was this perhaps related to the Blitz compiler for Commodore 64?
That allowed my more ambitious games on the C64 to run at a semi-respectable speed, without having to resort to 6502 assembly language (which I also did on occasion, and it was a pain in the arse, especially without a full assembler that supported labels!)

Anyway, RIP Mark Sibly.

Sorry@RhoSigma

Fix the title "Amother" is wrong.  I really think Mark Sibly, sounds like a dude.

And sorry to hear another pioneer of basic and it's flavors has passed away.

ps.  I am sure Mark had "a mother"
