Mean user base makes Steve cry

Quote:a740g -  Well, there are a few advantages to using LLVM/Clang/LLD/LLDB over traditional MinGW with GCC. I'll try to list as many as I can remember:
@a740g - Thanks for the explanation. It's certainly useful for larger programs, but for me it's just a hobby. With small programs it probably won't even be noticeable. I just installed it anyway. It's not clear from the version information.
Both compilers produce a file of the same size for me, only the old exe file from 2020 is around 5 KB smaller. There's probably a lot more to it with the new compilers.

Now I have another question: Do you know anything about assembler? I used to play around with it, but today I can't even get a "Hello, World" program to run under Nasm.

ZIP packed file makes me cry because 64bit version of new QB64pe is unzippable using 7zip! This program stucks at the half of the work of unzipping!
I have had to install PeaZip to get the file unzipped after several minutes!

Thanks for reading

Wow it is fantastic to import settings from previous version of QB64pe installed!
I had the same problem with WinRAR 5.6. Get the latest version of 7z 24.09, then right-click on the zip file: "Open with 7z". That works.

No. Scrolling up, you can see Tempo's post that he is replying to.

I did not see Tempo's post first time I scanned, I see it now though.

I have used Peazip taken from Peazip GITUB project

Before Peazip I have used 7-Zip taken some time ago from 7-zip website

not so preistoric this version (just 24 08) as you can see from download site.
There must be some news in 7-zip 24 09  that is not backward compatible with 24 08.

Now we have two solution for unpaking QB64pe 4.0

+1 for the links.

I might try the new version of 7-zip and see if it is faster. Honestly I'd have to wait until Trump removes taxes from overtime to use whatever version I have on any of the latest QB64PE zips.

I'm on 7-Zip 24.09. It worked flawlessly with 4.0.0.
It's not the having, it's the doing.

Good to know. I have to install a Windows F'update, and then I'll have a go at it next week.

I have the same issue where it gets to around 50% and stalls.  Actually stalls is incorrect...it gets CRAZY SLOW...it keep going, but would take hours to finish.  I noticed this same behavior with several different versions of 7-Zip but only while running under Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 CPUs - specifically 3 different desktop Ryzen 7 systems, a Ryzen 7 laptop, and 3 different Ryzen 9 desktop systems.  I just unzip using an Intel NUC with a 5th gen i5 and then copy over to the NAS and then distribute to my systems.  I assume that it is an issue between 7-Zip and the AMD architecture and something with QB64pe, but my workaround is sufficient as the only time I need this is when a new QB64pe is released.

One important thing to notice is that this issue ONLY happens with 7-Zip when I am unzipping QB64pe.  I zip/unzip tons of other files and never have this issue...only with QB64pe.  I just zipped/unzipped a 3.5GB ISO of Office 2019 PRO to test and it worked flawlessly (unzipped in 8 seconds).

ALSO of more importance...QB64pe 4.0 compiles F-A-S-T-E-R !!!  WooHoo !!!  Thank you to the devs!!!
