Hello NakedApe. Very interesting article, thanks for same.
One of the issues I think may be overlooked is that societies around the world function based on money. All business need money as their life blood, all governments need money to function and all criminals need ( I hate to say) money.
The societies of the world do not revolve around intelligence but do around money. So AI may start off by improving productivity and profitability with the use of AI but there has to be a consumer who buys things or services. Robots and Algorythms can't buy things. So it would seem to me there is going to be a point where AI can not replace workers or thinkers or educations without giving those individual money otherwise wouldn't all economies collapse?
I think we are already seeing governments around the world talking about sovereignty data and guardrails on AI. There is no doubt we may see institutions and industries completely revamped. For example self driving cars imply amazing drop in car crashes and injury claims for insurers, as would medical and legal be revamped but these institutions and industries employ a lot of people around the world.
We can already read about government laws that mandate AI remains a tool to augment employee skills and not dismiss them. Governments have come up with Worker Retention Grants, Human-in-the-Loop Regulatory Mandates, Guiding Principles in Healthcare reinforce the need of Healthcare professionals to remain central to clinical decision-making and governments passing laws that mandate an employer to reveal if there is a requirement for an employee to use AI
AI MUST support productivity and profits AND income, should it ever reach the point of collapsing our capitalistic societies then it becomes pointless. Maybe the future with AI will be we all get money not to work and fill our time with a hobby.

Thanks, Dimster, for your thoughts. That all makes sense. I sure hope governments around the world regulate the progress and application of AI. And I hope it isn't abused to invade our privacy any more than it already is, but you're right - $$ makes the world go round...
