It's the only screen you'll ever need.

It's the only screen PETE will ever need. FTFY

It's the default text screen that QB64 (and QuickBasic) uses at start up.

PRINT "HELLO WORLD"

The window with the black background is text SCREEN 0. It only allows text, no graphics. To leave SCREEN 0 you need to initiate a graphics screen:

SCREEN 13 ' legacy 320x200 graphics screen

SCREEN _NEWIMAGE(800, 600, 32) ' modern 800x600 32bit graphics screen

If you hiv a New Zealand eccent, "better" sounds sounds like a nigative, not a positive!

If you have a New Zealand accent, you have my sympathies. Actually, N.Z. is a lot like my home state of California. Again, my sympathies.

By the way, Terry, I implemented the code you gave me, SCREEN _NEWIMAGE(800, 600, 32) ' modern 800x600 32bit graphics screen. Very helpful. I am only on lesson 4 of the tutorial, but it still helps to be able to see the practice programs more completely than with the default.
