Quote:Hi, I designed many years a little app in Basic and now I need to migrate it to a more versatile program like qb64pe, but need some help to Understand the Logic to Setup User-Defined Types for Random Access Files. My problem begins when I have to Link each Employee worked hours with the Code I have tailored to Process the Payroll File.. I don't get understand EXACTLY the approach used in the UDTypes Method.. I have the app running more or less with Basic Sequential, but need more Effective Reports, and Information.. Thank you so much

As admin, I get messages from guests and such, from time to time, asking for help. Usually, I'm more than happy to chime in and do all I can to help people, but right now I'm just too swamped with work and junk to do much of anything, and this seems like it might be the type of issue that would take several messages back and forth and multiple working examples to help someone sort out. If anyone would be so kind as to feel like taking this request upon themselves, I'm certain it'd be greatly appreciated by our guest. (See if they'll sign up as a regular forum member too, if they can. It usually makes stuff like this much easier so multiple people can chime in and offer help.)

lpolanco980@gmail.com <-- that's the contact e-mail they left. If you reach out, let us know. It'd be nice to know the guy could get the assistance he was looking for here. Wink

Ok I sent out an email and I get this:
Quote:Address not found
Your message wasn't delivered to Ipolanco980@gmail.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

could that be an l (L) no I?

OK tried both now. No address unknown on 2nd try. I did invite him here because it would be easier to discuss and have more eyes on progress.

Did you try lowercase L and I too ?

It was lower case l (L) that one seemed to go through and did not get return message "address unknown".

So I think I got through on 2nd try.

The Karma is off. If it takes this much trouble to get an email out just think how much more effort it will take when it comes to code analysis. Let's change that Karma, and see if the person registers.

If it's this hard to copy-paste his address and contact him...   how hard is it to count votes for a whole nation?   NOW I'm begging to understand why it takes Arizona so long...   Wink

There's a lot of U.S. election correction that needs doing. The damn pandemic is over, so why the hell do we still have mail-in ballots? Think of this, at least drop-box voting means we wouldn't have to wait days for the mail to be delivered. California is so screwed up we have to wait three to four weeks for our results. Florida, on the other hand, gets it all wrapped up on election night. More states need to follow the Florida system because seriously, we did a better job before computers.

Trump really has his work cut out for him come January... which just might be before Arizona and California finish counting.

My question is this:  If you don't trust sending cash in the mail, why would you trust sending votes that way?

Vote in person, at a designated spot, with a valid form of photo identification in hand...  or just don't vote.

If folks say, "Well gish gosh bosh, so-and-so doesn't have a photo id!", then pass the law so that it goes into effect in 4 years time.  If they can't get a valid photo id in that much time, they don't need to vote anyway!!

God I mistake an lower case l for upper I and it's turned into a political thing.

For the record, during a pandemic voting by mail makes allot of sense and it wasn't the same as sending money through the mail. It could be made more secure (if it wasn't secure enough) the same way they do money over the Internet, that seems to be working quite well.
