Well I got cookies for Santa.  Unfortunately they are browser cookies.  I did set the time-to-live to infinite, they won't go stale.

Sorry for all you loyal QB64-PE fellows, but there will never be a v3.15.0, not now, not for X-mas and not after that.

BUT,

If everything happens as planed, you'll get a brand new v4.0.0 this weekend, yeah Big Grin  Heart  Big Grin

So make sure to stick around here and be the first who grabs it.

Want a sneak preview? - Haha, sure you want Big Grin
Here is a list with all changed or added keywords.

OK now what I want for Christmas (or sooner) is some demo's of these new or fixed changes.

Perhaps in Word Of The Day, these demo's might be included.

  • The presets shall just serve the ability, for library makers, to easily check what features are active in a program, they shall otherwise not be misused to enforce certain features, e.g.
  • don't check for _CONSOLE_ and force one to open, if none is there,
  • don't check for _EXPLICIT_ and force it, if it's not in effect, etc

Huh? Just for that, I'm going to force everyone to use _OPTION _EXPLICIT AND _CONSOLE.

I, too, would like some demos once this is released. Some of this new stuff seems strange. I'm curious if _CAST works with taking an _OFFSET and turning it into a number. I always had to do myLong = VAL(STR$(myOffset)) in order to convert an _OFFSET to anything else.

Casting _OFFSET is the main reason for that, but I think @a740g has also lifted the restrictions on _OFFSET in general where it makes sense to work with it like a number.

Nice. That was always an annoying thing. Glad to hear it has been taken care of.

What is _cast good for, broken code?

Oh maybe it can be used to program a phishing scheme. A good _cast would help with that.

Okay, okay, fine. Sorry to be the one to _cast dispersions, but like the old saying goes,

"If you _cast your bread upon the water, you feed a fish for a week."
