This is helpful - I may have a Windows 7 machine laying around. And I can look for the XP-compatible 2.0.1.

Latest version of QB64PE or QB64 compatible with Windows XP (32-bit)?

Thanks for cluing me in to its existence! I'm trying to locate that, but no luck. Apparently, QB64.com doesn't currently have a 32-bit version, their Web site says: Quote:Windows x86/32-bit: Due to an error during the build process, the 32-bit build of QB64 v2.1 is not available; however, this issue is confirmed to be fixed with the next release (v2.1.1). I seem to recall that message has been up for a very long time and am not seeing where to download older builds on their github (then again, I'm not the most savvy github user and maybe I just don't know where to look?) Any idea where I can find the binaries for that XP-compatible 2.0.1 release? Thanks again

There is no reason to stay on XP. Unless you are relying on an industrial control app. My work relied on XP and a parallel port CNC controller. I was tasked to find a modern solution to this hardware. Turns out the CNC software company made a new version for get this Win 10. Win 11 most likely will work. If it wasn't for the TPM requirements. The parallel port problem really wasn't. A USB to PP port converter specified supported by CNC software was real cheap. My reason to stay on XP is no more.
All the more reason to drop XP. Are you using it on the internet ? If you are (getting hacked by) "a drive by", it will happen. Not if. Will happen. Look into clonezilla as a 1:1 backup and save free solution. Saved my ass a couple of times from stupid behind the keyboard users.
There's no reason to stay on XP if
I have Win 10 or 11 on any PC that I use that's newer than 2012 or so. But I tried it out on some late 2000s machines that let me install it, which then just ran slow as hell and pretty much became useless, constantly updating and just bogged down. And then I have a couple even older machines, with less RAM and HDD space, that work great with XP, that I only use to run Windows MAME 0.37 which has a GUI and runs everything great and is actually BETTER than modern MAME for a lot of games. An XP laptop is great for dedicating to a retro arcade cabinet! Finally, there are a bunch of useful applications which run on XP but don't on newer versions of Windows, which would be expensive to buy current versions for (or for which Win 10+ comparible versions don't exist). If it ain't broke, don't fix it! But as far as QB64 is concerned, my interest in XP was to see if I could use it for a dedicated machine to run a game in an arcade cabinet.

(the program featured. in the first post of that thread probably wouldn't work on windowsxp.) "particle" program? https://qb64phoenix.com/forum/showthread...t=particle |
