I'll be honest, I wasn't aware of this and we don't have a bug report for it in GitHub, I'll see about making one. I feel like it worked for me the last time I tried QB64-PE on macOS, but that was probably a month or two ago now so I don't remember all that well (and I didn't know it was something I should check).
