I discovered two things playing this:
One thing I would suggest is trying a variable-width font, maybe even just a basic Arial. It would make it quite a bit easier to read (though would lose some of the aesthetic, I suppose).
- Black on white is a surprisingly nice colour scheme for QB programs
- I'm really bad at text adventures
