ChatGPT is based on a Generative AI model. If that is so, it carries the potential of knowing EVERYTHING human kind has discovered since our existence. While it is still short of General AI status it nevertheless has reached a very important milestone.
As I see it, ChatGPT, within the next couple of years, will invade fundamental pillars of society. One of the first ones you and I will likely be faced with is Education. Do we need to send our kids to school? With ChatGPT could they not get all the knowledge they need to be whatever they want to be. How much of our tax dollars go to supporting an education system that may not be as tailored to your childs learning strengths and interests to be an astronaut. Plus the accuracy of the information from ChatGPT is superior as is the up to the minute modern knowledge (whereas our schools curriculum tend to lag modern up to date knowledge break throughs). We could save a fortune in higher learning educational costs, especially low income families.
At the moment, school children using ChatGPT will be labelled "cheaters" by the school system plus the worry that the child is just handing in a repeat of what ChatGPT has reported and the child didn't "learn" and "apply" knowledge taught in the class room. That very well may be the case right now but, remove the teacher and the classroom, and actual learning could take place.
