@PhilOfPerth I don't know for certain why the transition between the second and third string is tuned a major third rather than the perfect fourth of the other strings. I suspect the reason is to make sure the pattern keeps the "cowboy chords" easier to play, but I wouldn't presume that to be the case. I programmed in the tuners to make it easy to investigate various alternate tunings and how they might change chord phrasings. I know that a lot of pro musicians use alternate tunings in various songs. Jimmy Page springs immediately to mind as one who does a lot of alternate tunings in his music.
