clear your explanation. Very beautyful. I hadn't got time to spend in researching the answer of a question that it arose when I read your code.
(Q: why does he prefer 10? Why each 10 times? I had supposed without verifying that it was because a littler interval (less than 10) whould be ineffective for the time spent for enlarging the string to insert with MID$, while it maybe that a longer interval (more than 10) may loose the fast increasing of speed of the function.)
And this you last post shows me that this is the reason of choice about the value 10.

I think this function (and maybe the other functions that are slower for 0.0X value) can be part of a QB64pe standard library manipulating STRINGs.
