My problem with OneDrive is it's a f'n virus. Worst virus I've ever had on my PC.
Problem is it likes to upload crap to the cloud.
Then it deletes crap off your PC to save room, and marks it "download on demand".
Issue comes if you have multiple PCs and then they start trying to sync and sort crap out.
PC 1: Uploads foo.whatever to the web.
PC 2: Downloads a copy of foo.whatever from the web and marks it "download on demand".
PC 2: Makes some change.
PC 2: Does an update to foo.whatever on the web.
PC 2: Then deletes foo.whatever off the local drive as it's marked for "download on demand".
PC 1: Does a sync, sees the file deleted off PC 2's folder list. Deletes it from its folder.
PC 1: Didn't have that file marked as "download on demand" as it was the original file that uploaded it onto the web.
PC 1: Now marks it as "Deleted" and erases it off the web.
PC 2: Does a sync and sees it deleted. It now deletes it as well.
Congrats! OneDrive just BLEEPING deleted both files off your PC and the version off the web and now it's going FOREVER!!!
I lost GBs of files to this crap from OneDrive before I caught it. If it's just used on a single PC, I don't guess it'd ever be an issue. But once you start syncing across multiple PCs, it quickly becomes a nightmare with that crappy bleeping "download on demand".
Honestly, I *like* the concept. My desktop pc has a 20 TB drive in it. It's got a shit ton of storage space and I like everything there to stay on the drive so it's always offline and easy to use even if offline. My laptop has 2 TB of SSD superfast storage in it. It can get crammed full of crap rather quickly and having 1 TB of cloud storage to keep things offline would be nice...
Except that syncing across devices will end up entering some sort of stupid "delete it all" loop.
Never had any virus eat as much of my stuff as I've had microsoft destroy with OneDrive. I don't care if they give me 100 PB of web storage. It's never going back on my PC ever again.
