And, of course, there were early IBM PC 8086 BASIC interpreters called:
Basic.com and Basica.com
which were not really the interpreter itself, but,
called the absolute jump to the program in ROM..

btw: if you want to go way back, there was a BASIC interpreter in Univac 1108 machines in the '70s.
this was before the 'C' (and 'B') languages.
