Consider becoming a patron

So provide an address and a money order will have to do from me. I like to vote my approval or disapproval of what is going on with forum with money support. BTW I like to think forum participation is best sort of support Smile

You bring up an interesting point about what happens should something happen to Steve. When subscriptions are involved like with Patreon I'd like to know what would happen then because of the thing that happened when Fellippe turned things over to unknown guy. For me to even consider Patreon subsciption I need to know what/who has been setup in some detail.

All our resources are in the hands of the current dev team.  I've shared server credentials and passwords with them all in our Discord channel, as well as our forum, wiki, github, patreon, ect.  Something happen to me -- God forbid -- and they'll have to decide amongst themselves who wants to step up and take it all over.

Last year, I had what the doctor's called, "The MOST dangerous surgery in the world."  I made certain all our ducks were in a row then, so when the inevitable happens, things won't fall apart and crumble as they have during the last transitions of leadership.

So if something happens to me, it'll probably be offbyone, a740g, or RhoSigma who steps up and takes over the payments and keeps the lights on around here.  Wink

(Though even better than that would be to have enough patrons/subscribers to just set up an automatic payment system, which means it'd be YOU GUYS -- the user base -- that would make certain things kept going forevermore.)

Me too, about "subscriptions." Would be super nice to have an easy way to donate large(ish) lumped sums. I certainly don't like mooching off anyone, so that would be super. Even if it's the old-fashioned way, snail mail address to send checks.

You can always PayPal me at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/smcneill1973 , but that kinda defeats the purpose of leaving funds setup in the unfortunate case something happens to me a few years down the line.

And many thanks to our second patron!  We're now up to $11.00 a month (we're getting a total of $13.00 a month now, but Patreon takes a portion for their overhead costs), which is more than a third of what it'd cost to keep the servers up and going permanently.  (Our forum/server costs is all of about $250 a year, depending on inflationary price increases, so all we'd ever need to hit is a goal of about $30 per month to pay for server costs from now on.  Wink )

And a third patron!   We're now up to about $15 a month, and at about half the total needed to pay fully for the server fees and such.  Many thanks to Terry for making this topic and reminding folks that we do indeed have one that generous users can donate to.  Smile

Update: We now have 4 patrons and now earn about $18.00 per month.

4 more subscribers at the $3.00 per month level would put us at our goal, fully paying for our server costs each year.  (We'd be at about $30 per month, with server costs totaling around $250.00 last year.  Even afterPatreon takes their cut, we should still have sufficient to keep the lights on perpetually around here, once we hit our low goals.)

For the price of a few cups of coffee a month I get to say thank you for the continued work on QB64PE.

It's Xmas time folks and Steve and his elves have been very, very, good boys. Give the gift of Patreon for a year to let them know they're appreciated.
