I had started on an improved version of the game I posted here (which works)
to use tiled graphics, higher resolution, and an input mapper, and it became slow as molasses.
I ended up reverting to the previously working lo-res version (which is what I ended up finishing and posting.)
I still would like to get the newer one working, but I'm not seeing what could be causing the slowdowns...
The tile and input routines that I added work with other games I've done without speed issues,
and the game logic itself is from the above version, which runs fast enough.
I'm not sure if this is something that can be easily helped, but it can't hurt to ask, in the odd chance that it's something simple I'm overlooking.
If anyone feels like giving it a look. the code is in the attached ZIP file
(Otherwise I'll just do the usual ripping out of parts and see if anything changes...)
