Mean user base makes Steve cry
#1
Sad
The moment we dropped v4.0, people started talking about cleaning up and removing folders and such, so make for a smaller installation...

SO SIZE MATTERS TO YOU GUYS...

and yet...  *sniffle*  *sniffle*...

NOBODY HAS NOTICED THAT THE DOWNLOAD IS NOW 25% SMALLER THAN IT WAS BEFORE?!!

Note the sizes below:

qb64pe_win-x64-4.0.0.7z --- 83.8 MB
qb64pe_win-x86-4.0.0.7z --- 88.2 MB

Compared to:

qb64pe_win-x64-3.14.1.7z --- 107 MB
qb64pe_win-x86-3.14.1.7z --- 106 MB

Waaaahhhhhhhh!! I can'ts not believe you guys didn't notice this SLIGHT change.

We're... we're.... we're getting to the point where our package is almost as small as Pete's Pistols, and yet nobody has noticed!!

.
.
.

Well... Let's be fair here... When you get as small as the pistol Pete's packing, it's hard to get noticed... Big Grin

(Just wanted to point out the size difference for those who are interested in this sort of thing and want to reduce drive usage as much as possible. Wink )

Don't cry, Steve, I'm sure we ALL noticed the smaller archives.

Made me wonder if maybe they were incomplete somehow, but a download+investigation proved them to be perfectly usable.

It's mainly all from swapping the compiler to a different version as we did.  Wink

I just know the size is something that a lot of folks are interested in, so I wanted to point it out for everyone.  Size, speed, memory usage... we're like everyone else and try and keep these things in mind whenever possible, so we can be as efficient as possible.  Since this wasn't technically a GitHub change (we downloaded the compiler from elsewhere), it wasn't mentioned in the update notes, but I still thought it was worth pointing out for folks who may not have noticed.  Wink

also the linux version was going more than 10mib for 3.13.  then went back down to a bit over 7mib.  that is impressive.  but i hate to burst the bubble of some of you.  64-bit operating system means more bloat, more fat hog programming.  cannot pride anymore on program which is only 32kib with "ms-dos/debug.dot.com" but is 4mib instead produced by qb64.
