Lemonade Stand Unlimited

Control your own Lemonade Stand. Buy gallons of lemonade, cups, signs, websites, web ads, and upgrade your stand. You can also save and load your game. 
This is my 3rd version of a lemonade stand. I suggest buying signs early in the game. It is a text game with a picture before each topic.
Sometimes bad things can happen from the weather, which takes money. There's a "lotto" game save if you wish to start out as a billionaire. 
But the game is more fun just starting with the default $50. 

Put the zip files in its own folder and keep the "pics" folder named that, with the photos inside it, within that folder you make.

Changed weather and prices code to make it more realistic on sells. Changed 2 screens to 1 for the menu lists. Added DIM for image& and cleaned up _FREEIMAGE lines.

I loved Apple ][ Lemonade Stand! I've tried this as a result.

It's cool that you are showing graphics of weather, it'd be even cooler if it animated them using code.

The game loop is:
1. Show weather (full screen) wait...
2. Show status (full screen) [press ENTER]
3. Show menu / handle choices

This is good, and it's honoring the original game, but I'm finding that when I'm at #3 I often want to know what my status is.

What if...

You showed the status and the menu at the same time? Or made an option to show it in the menu? This way we don't have to remember the status, and can make more informed decisions.

Just a thought

Your program is well made and works great. I am not sure about the weather algorithms and the randomness though.

For example, it was hailing, and I sold cups for $2 each. I had more people come out to buy lemonade during a hail storm for 2$ than I did on a regular day

I think this might need some tweaking In my mind hail = less customers.

If your logic (I have not yet looked at the code wanted to capture the feedback first) is calculate based on price as a first pass, maybe factor in weather first? Then advertising/prices?

Here is a screenshot. In the menu it looks like maybe you could have room for status too. Or another option to "show status"



One pattern that would be useful is all in one screen Weather in a quadrant, status in another, and menu/results/events in another?

Oh also, one more thing before I forget...

Your filename for your .bas has a apostrophe in it and spaces - could you not use apostrophes in your filenames? In linux anyway, it made my build script shit the bed because of parsing issue. I renamed to kens-lemonade-stand.bas

Thanks gyrmmjack! I thought the same thing regarding the 2 screens of lists on the menu. So I changed it to 1 screen. I also made it more realistic with the weather and prices on sales. I also added a DIM for the image& pictures and cleaned up _FREEIMAGE. Plus I renamed it like you said so people with Linux won't have issues. 
I also made a trillion dollar limit, if anyone ever gets that far. lol The update is on the first page of this forum thread.

Thanks gyrmmjack! I thought the same thing regarding the 2 screens of lists on the menu. So I changed it to 1 screen. I also made it more realistic with the weather and prices on sales. I also added a DIM for the image& pictures and cleaned up _FREEIMAGE. Plus I renamed it like you said so people with Linux won't have issues. 
I also made a trillion dollar limit, if anyone ever gets that far. lol The update is on the first page of this forum thread.

Cool I'll check it out again

These little games are fun but they also taught me a huge lesson as a little 8yo kid. Consequences, supply and demand, etc. It was mind opening. Then I found oregon trail, and oh lord...

Those 2 games are in my top 2 of all time (mostly because of nostalgia).

@SierraKen you might enjoy trying oregon trail if you haven't yet!

Much better! Those status being always there when we need to decide == huge QOL (quality of life) improvement! Well done.

LOL thanks Gymmjack, but I've played it... didn't get far. lol Another one is, "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego".  Might be hard to find though.
