Rock Jockey 2.0 is ready for action
#31
@NakedApe Sorry for the late reply. I've been having a lot of hardware trouble lately. Good news is that I bought myself a M4 Mac Mini. So, macOS testing will hopefully get much better.

The _MouseHide bug was fixed here https://github.com/QB64-Phoenix-Edition/QB64pe/pull/616

We have to tag and push a new release. With the few changes we have had since 4.1, I do not think we can do a major release. However, a dot release may be possible. I'll check with the dev team to see if we can do a quick one.

Ted, in the meantime, can you download the macOS artifact from https://github.com/QB64-Phoenix-Edition/...3760173707 and try your game with it to see if it works correctly?

@a740g - Thanks for the updates. Sounds great. I'd be happy to check out the changes and see if the game runs right, but I'm not sure what to do with the artifact file. I can copy it, but not download it. And then is it an updated v4.1? Please explain what to do with it - I'm no developer.  Wink  Thanks!

From my experience, you have to be logged in to github to download the artifacts.

I grabbed the osx version which was 131ish MB zipped...  Extracted it to my PC... and then used 7z to compress it back down so it'd go up on the forums with no issues.  The 7z version comes in at about 40MB or so.

You should be able to grab either copy here and extract, run as usual.  (I think.)  Test it out and see if the changes work for you.  Wink

@smcneill Thanks, Steve! The 7z version opened fine on my Mac and the 4.1.0 build works flawlessly. Kudos to Sam and you. I'm not sure what functionality is missing from _MouseMovementX & Y with this work-around fix that Sam mentioned, but my game uses _MousemovementX and it all ran as expected.  Big Grin  Most excellent.

I have a new game I'm about halfway through writing and am psyched to show it off here soonish...

Oh, very nice! And Apple finally coughed up 16 gigs of RAM for all their M4 models - even the base unit. That should make your new machine a real screamer. I'm a little jealous.

Note to Ape @NakedApe

Message alerts are faulty. Sometimes you have to do one or more quit edits and resaves, without any changes, and include a browser refresh just to get one to hyperlink and show it was hyperlinked. Other than that, they work just fluffing great.

@Pete, thanks, but I’m not sure what you mean by message alerts. Elaborate for me? And this relates to the new QB v4.1 build discussed above?

@nakedape

Message alters as in alerting a member they have a mention in your post by  using the '@' symbol. The member then sees a (You have a private message from...) in the top of the forum. Anyway, the board software is hit and miss with this at times. The post is supposed to turn your @whomever into a hyperlink, but a lot of times it doesn't. I have found that by doing a quick edit, changing nothing, and resaving it once or twice gets it to finally appear as a hyperlink. I've never seen those not get to the intended member but what's weird is sometimes they seem to get through when they don't show as a hyperlink, anyway. There is no way to fix this inconsistency since the software is no longer supported.

So if you ever don't hear back from a member you alerted in a post, check to see if the @whomever is hyperlinked and also check to see if the member name is correct. I saw someone mention Terry Richie but just used @Terry, which is not his user name. Wrong user names NEVER appear as hyperlinks, which is why I wish the system would always hyperlink correct ones on the initial post. That way, if it didn't appear linked, you would know the user name was input incorrectly. So the user name must be exact, but the system doesn't appear to be case sensitive. Notice I alerted you in all lowercase.
