@Pete

I doubt it.  When you become a #2, I'm just going to flush.

Just musing: with all the advances in AI, and in hacking techniques, is it possible someone could one day write the command Format Internet ?
Imagine the chaos: no banking, no military info... and worst of all, no QB64PE !
We'd have to wait for Steve to re-write it from scratch.
I hope there's a backkup somewhere!

he Uh oh, @PhilOfPerth, that's the kind of thing an evil genius would come up with, LoL!
Do we really want to put that idea out there to inspire a future mastermind?
Then again, maybe formatting the internet -or parts of it- isn't such a bad idea!

But seriously, you would expect that to be pretty hard, that all these big companies like Google have massively redundant backups in place 6 miles below the earth's surface, but if Amazon can be taken down, you never know!

@ JRace I've got a couple of spare floppies somewhere, if you need them!

Well that's one way to to come up with a coding style just discuss all bad ones and do the opposite!.

Smile

Update: Dang there was another page of comments since Steve's reply on what makes his brain smolder, sorry.

I think that the Internet was designed to prevent this dooms day hack.

No central location, info passed in packets, alternate paths to target found if first is blocked and who knows what more might have been anticipated.

Update, OK not too far off flow of conversation.

@SMcNeill

Unfortunately for you, Newscum is going to make California toilet to tap, so like our former governator once said, "I'll be back!"

Hahahahaha nice! I wonder when was the last time that the total cumulative data available online was small enough that it COULD be downloaded - if not by a single person then by a university or an organization? I don't think archive.org has everything but they're probably up there. How many biggabytes does Google and Amazon have on us all?

Well, research ahs led me to say...ChatGPT leads you to paying for any real help whilst the Google answers ai (Gemini) gives concise code for specific prompts but has very short, short term memory! Still. ive learned how to use it to prove my ideas good and plausible, even if i actually have to code!!!! or just daydreams!
