I now HATE most of this community as i find them not willing to praise or even acknowledge code that isnt QB64 pure (even though it all C++!) and weve gone back to the Cola days again! (A group of biddies who ignore the people they dont like or who intimidate them!)

Again, My opinion as i know is not something anyone cares about! But i helped make this language long before 90% of the current people even knew of it!

This looks like the pot calling the kettle black!

"QB64 is dead already!" "I now HATE most of this community..." WTH? man why hang around then? Fork it! if not happy.

And Spazzo, jesus, you two sound elitist, see yourself as superior to the majority here. Is your middle name Steve? b+LOL!
Who doesn't see themself superior to others, but most of us have good sense to leave that ship behind when posting a reply.

I am curious Unseen contribution to language before 90% knew of it. What? did Unseen create QBasic?

BTW This biddy is using AI more thanks to leader influence that happens when not in nasty mode.

So @PhilOfPerth you like this "low brow" bitchyness? I hope not.

One more thing: Happy Valentines Day my loves!

@ bplus: No, I don't like bitchiness - period!
As I said, I posted this to try to engender some encouragement for newcomers, not to scorn the incredible products of those very skilled members such as yourself, Steve, et al.
I really believe this site is, and can remain, a very strong source of learning for yong players.

Some "hi-brow" writers already give plenty of comments in their progs, and this is great for us mid-brow and low-brow members. It gives us the motivation to experiment and develop our own routines etc. And this is where new blood will come from.
Just wanted to be clear what I meant earlier.

@PhilOfPerth

Phil, it was always clear what you wanted.

The lack of newbie interest remains disappointing.  We've had youngsters like Ashish (who got straight into OpenGL) and I would have hoped that newbies like him would seed interest and spread incoming young talent.

Are we to hope that @bplus 's YouTube channel will spark centres of enrolment?

Ah don't hold your breath but yes, keep reminding of this! It is a good dream and very doable, I think.

Just curious... Why use code boxes when you can just insert a quote as easily?   There's a button on the hotbar for quote which is right beside the code boxes, and you can type one with mybbcode manually with just a [ quote ] and [ /quote ]  (without the spaces).  What's the purpose of a codebox for something which isn't code?  Is it to disable the links and such, such as the last quote/box you shared above so the entire url formatting is listed, rather than a link?

I sometimes use code blocks instead of a quote to preserve formatting

Quote: What's the purpose of a codebox for something which isn't code?

I'd don't care for the way quotes are looking specially for something short. I appreciate the effort to shorten long long long replies but to just answer a question or reply to one point someone else makes, this code box use seems better to me. Though Quote tags worked fine here, I will try that more often. Not trying to bug anyone, just trying different things.

BTW Jack is correct when spacing is critical use a code box instead of a Quote!

Wasn't bugged.  Just curious.  I was thinking it might be for the quick copy link, or to preserve the whole link, or something else.  I figured, "Heck, just ask.  It's the only way to ever really know!"

Thank Steve. Again, I never noticed (or understood how to use) the Quote box. I'll try it here, and maybe a new era begins!

Edit: that didn't do as I expected. I think I also have to use the
Quote: and
, and hit the Quote button in between them, right?

Edit Edit: Ah, I think I get it. The fog clears (a little).
