Even as you write, you think about the source code, and one learns which typos cause which error messages. Quick Basic Books

For this reason I was wondering if anyone has the example files.

Lol, I remember when i got the Games Programming with QBasic book, no disc and no other references for its bespoke stuff! whilst I appreciate the OLD books and knowledge, nowadays they are NO USE TO ANYONE! If you have a question, an idea or anything else, ASK...even for me the forum members provide help, code, references...so for anything that will be covered in any QBasics coding book....again...JUST ASK! Chances are weve done it, got a library or decided collectively we are to dumb to effect the idea...JUST PLEASE DO NOT waste money on QBasics programming books....

agreed that the book was written in a somewhat childish style.
"you become myopic, you look through quickbasic's colored glasses." what expression is that even? then actually advertise for crescent software. and a couple of other companies. that the authors of the book would then deny close association with. propose different routines. for weak computers not designed for true graphical interface. a few examples were funny. such as the "pac man screen" i think was for view statement. they could have provided a better example. for call absolute which had to be forced into the quickbasic ide. they made a big deal about the pen statements. before anybody could guess what we have to deal with today. they focused on ibm pc and compatibles so much. not one example was provided for qb-mac. it wasn't enough to tell other people. that operating system was way ahead of ms-dos and windows at the time. that's why some graphics and sound statements. behaved radically differently from one edition to the other. i appreciated the "recall" section. i verified for myself the bug with swap. on the ide with two udt's. in one game program i did one day. i obtained the "internal error near xxxx" from "bc.exe". my program used no "quick" library nor "foreign" routine. it wouldn't have done any good if i reported it. even if i had a way to report it. |
