Full Screen Not Working Anymore.
#1
The setup I'm currently using cannot view any QB64PE programs in full screen. I highly suspect this occurred when I made a specialized change to my desktop display, so my flat screen would allow my desktop to be displayed correctly when the lid was opened and closed. Since this problem occurs with all my previous QB64PE versions, I know it isn't a Phoenix issue. So, I'm curious. Has anyone else experienced an inability to get a graphics program to stretch to all 4 corners of the monitor? To clarify, _FULLSCREEN in my set up creates a full black screen but only fills it with a windowed sized active screen in the lower left corner. So the upper and right side areas of the screen remain black.

This is no priority, and if I can't get full screen working, I won't miss it. Oh, I should mention I cannot see how it displays on my laptop alone, as the display screen was recently broken; however, I have used this laptop with a flat screen monitor before, with no changes to the Windows display, and I had not experienced the problem.

Have you tried _FullScreen _Stretch or _FullScreen _Smooth?

Sounds like a scaling issue of some sort:

To fix scaling issues on applications individually overriding the global scaling settings on Windows 10, use these steps:

Right-click the .exe of the app.
Click on Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Under “Settings,” click the “Change high DPI settings” button.
Check the “Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings” option.
Choose when to apply the scaling settings, including when opening the app or when signing in to Windows 10.

And MS says you need a driver update: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...383c41ff44

I tried all the various _Fullscreen switches before, all without any luck. That's when I figured out it must be the Windows display settings, which I changed awhile back so I can maintain the aspect ratio of the desktop when I open and close the lid. So that's definitely the problem, but unfortunately the compatibility fixes you listed do not resolve this issue. Now maybe I'd have to go to the extent of rebooting the whole system to be sure, which I will leave for another day. What I did discover is that if I start the program with the lid open and the resultant no display then close the lid, it will run full screen perfectly, but lifting the lid, to access the keyboard causes the graphics to cut out. The sound still functions, and the program plays in the background, but you cannot move the ship or see the computer generated graphics. Close the lid again, and all those missing components return. Again, no luck with various compatibility settings while working with the two lid positions.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has has problems with the lid issues for quite some times. Although other apps seem to work with the changes in the lid from open to closed, our QB64PE ones apparently do not. Again though, I might have to reboot my system to be sure of that last statement.

No, it's a Dell Think for Yourself pad. You think Steve could solve this, being the farmer in and all....

I had a similar issue with my Thinkpad a few years back but I can't remember what I did to resolve it. I remember posting the problem to one of the past forums but ended up figuring it out and posting the solution.

Pete,

Do you have a desktop keyboard with a usb connection? That way you don't have to open your laptop to type.

That's on my to do list. I do have a couple, but they're still packed in storage. Plus, it's a guy thing. I mean I'm always leaving the lid up... and the seat, too.

I've noticed a similar but different hitch: when I maximize the IDE, the pulldown menus don't work unless I switch to another window and then come back to the IDE. Has anyone else seen this?
It's not the having, it's the doing.

If there is a crack between the titlebar (maximaized IDE window) along the top and the menu line then you have to click everything in the menu higher up maybe even to bottom of line above. That crack means your mouse clicks won't be aligned to menu text lines. Thats been a problem forever.
